PROJECT NEWS

• Hames Sharley, Shape Urban and Franklin Planning have prepared on behalf of the Shire of Broome a new local planning strategy and scheme which is has recently (October 2023) been endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) and the Minister for Planning, respectively.  A copy of the final documents can be found here. 
• Hames Sharley and Franklin Planning have been appointed to assist the Shire of Mt Marshall in undertaking a review of its existing Local Planning Strategy (LPS) and Planning Scheme 3 (LPS3). The Report of Review was accepted by the Western Australian Planning Commission in January 2022. A copy of the WAPC  correspondence and the Report of Review are available here.

PLANNING POLICY

 The WA State Government is progressively implementing an Action Plan for Planning Reform.  A program of major legislative, regulatory and policy changes to reform Western Australia’s planning system is being implemented. Franklin Planning continues to actively engage (as a PIA WA representative) in this process and to ensure compliance with contemporary best practice on behalf of clients.

​PROFESSIONAL OUTREACH

Claire Franklin is a current PIA WA Divisional Committee member (Vice President 2023) of Planning Institute of Australia (WA Division) and member of the Local Government Planners Association and takes a keen and active interest in issues facing the planning profession and promotes initiatives to support the planning professionals  Statewide.  

Claire is a co-founder and current deputy convenor of the  Women in Planning WA Network.
